(Just so we''re clear, this was written by my 16 year old son who is a huge Fall Out Boy fan and collects all of their albums on vinyl.)

This is my favorite Fall Out Boy album of all time. Given I was only 6 when this album came out, I didn''t get to appreciate it until many years later. I bought this record, thinking it was the re-release of the original From Under The Cork Tree vinyl; the colored one. It is not. I also thought it had the original cover art (as pictured). It does not. It is a plain vinyl record with the newer cover art on it. That was a bit disappointing to receive, had being thrilled about the re-release in the first place.
However. I decided to open up the record and play it anyway, because as I stated earlier, this is my favorite album released by Fall Out Boy.
That, was the bittersweet part of this all. The sound quality is phenomenal. I was extremely impressed. I was particularly impressed with "Of All The Gin Joints In The World," where the guitar riff at the very beginning was extremely clear. The clearest I had ever heard it!
Aside from the disappointing details of it, the vinyl itself is of great quality and sounds amazing. But the details need to be cleared up in the description of the product.

I bought this for my girlfriend, this is her favorite album from her favorite band. This review has nothing to do with the music itself, I am not a critic and she loves this album.

My issue is the vinyl record we received. The quality was already fairly poor for the first song or two, but when I got to Dance, Dance, the quality dropped through the floor. Imagine an old hand cranked radio you have sitting in your closet for years, then imagine trying to listen to a song with it with the antenna broken. Truly horrible quality and I am not exaggerating. The worst sounding vinyl ive ever listened to.

I even thought maybe it was my record player. Its old and its not in great shape, but I had also ordered Paranoid by Black Sabbath for myself at the same time, and that sounded fantastic on it.

DO NOT BUY THE VINYL FOR THIS ALBUM. Even if some prints are good and some arent, I dont think its worth waiting around for the chance of something this poor.

It pains me to rate this low. The band is awesome, the music is awesome. This rating is for what I recieved though. It was used but said good condition. It arrived and the case was badly cracked. Amazon had slapped their approval sticker right over the crack. And the worst of it is, the CD skips in several places, including the bonus tracks that were the entire reason I wanted this CD. Pretty disappointed that this passed Amazon''s quality check.

The big standouts are Dance, Dance, Sugar We''re Going Down, Sophomore Slump or Comeback Of The Year (best long note by Patrick EVER), XO Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying and Nobody Puts Baby In the Corner.

I can''t really remember the other ones and the song Atavan Halen was not as deep as I thought it''d be. Sure, it touches on suicide, and when I first heard of this weeks after, I had Pete heavy on my mind. Not a fun thing to go through.

But like this song and the rest of them, they are probably a bit of catchiness, maybe even melodic but I DON''T REMEMBER THEM AT ALL! Some of the songs that made the final cut could have been LEFT OFF the album ENTIRELY.

But 6 or so standouts is pretty damn good so I''m giving this album the thumbs up. I have their first official album, Take This To Your Grave because I loved the singles on this one. But that album isn''t that great. It''s hyper which is cool but not many standouts whatsoever.

I give this album a 4.1/5

Cover Art: Are the people in the trucks drowning? O_o If so, A-
Inside Art: A- (lyrics and pictures of the hottie Pete (check). Pictures of the other band members are there too so (check))
Songwriting: C+ (Fun, and stuck in your mind for the most part.)
Vocals: C Patrick has a way with his unique vocal work. It only gets better as the albums go along (point for Infinity On High)
Vocal Emotion: C (D- at his worst and B- at his best (Golden))
Vocal Acrobatics: D-
Production: C-
Length: A-

Final Rating: 4.1 stars.

Oh god. It''s bad. Really bad. I''m listening to side C right now, just so I can get through listening to the whole vinyl. Then I will never listen to it again. This is not a fun experience. I love the album itself, but this pressing is atrocious.

I''ll preface this by saying that I don''t listen to any punk music at all really. I heard "Sugar We''re Going Down" on a NFL Network highlight video and thought they''d be worth a look.

The Genre confused me. I wouldn''t even label this as punk - perhaps nerd punk. Despite its reputation for being Emo, which I admit had me worried, there is little to nothing on this album resembling the whiney, slow, self-disparaging cry-fest of black-holedom that is Emo music.

Under the Cork Tree is robust, vibrant and up beat. The tunes are catchy and engaging. They rarely settle into one style of song and manage to keep the album fresh without being gimmicky. The vocals are very strong and dynamic, which surprised me - especially for a group whose style of music has had a tradition where "yell-singing" was the status quo.

The instrumentals are pretty good, but you can tell there is room to grow. Acceptable, considering the age and experience of the band.

Judging from the other negative reviews, one would think that Fall Out Boy spend their time killing small kittens. I find the majority of the negative reviews purely reactionary with little substance or real reviewing beyond "This band sucks. I hate my radio." No one said that Fall Out Boy was supposed to replace Led Zeppelin. Certainly they never did.

If you want to try something newer, fresh and upbeat with a bit of an edge, I recommend this album.
